Dear Brothers
Assalamu Alaikum wrwb.
By this time, you might have heard about the fatal Fire incident which took place last night near Kurla Station (prominently known as Nau Number Area). This place is towards East of Kurla -Nehru Nagar.
The situation today in this Area is quite Alarming. More than 200 huts have been gutted in a span of just 2 hours and these families have left with absolutely nothing. May Allah swt forbid this may not happen to anyone and anywhere. In very little time everything is vanished. Such is Duniya. No matter what you do.
The bare minimum basic needs of life are destroyed in this i.e. Food, Clothing, Shelter, Water, Toilets, Bathing everything. Just imagine the situation of those families. Surely we will have tears.
Allaho Akbar, Allaho Akbar, Allaho Akbar I invite my brothers once again to stand together tall in this hour of need and do whatever little we could from here. The principle let us be of some use atleast to one family.
Right now apart from the little financial help, what they need is our support. Let them realize we are with them and they have to start life again. We have to support them both mentally and financially.

Short history :
Seeing the residents of all these Areas from my Childhood, its amazing how they stay in hundreds of such huts generations together. More than 95% of the residents in this Area are Muslims working hard to earn to their living and taking care of their families and childrens. These people are mostly skilled and unskilled labors doing some technical jobs or working in small garment workshops, tailoring business, cloth coloring, scrap shops, shoes etc.
What amazes me is that I have not seen a single change in their houses, the Area, the living standards, cleanliness atleast since the last 20 years. Which means they earn and eat daily and keep running to fix their little needs.
May Allah swt listen to all our duas and help them.

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
One of our muslim brothers, Br. Hassan Suleman Khopekar, aged approx 60+, residing at Chougule House, Nawanagar Mohalla, Dockyard Road, Mumbai. Has undergone an operation to one of his feet's and doctors have amputed the same from below his knee. He is now at St. George Hospital (Municipal) at VT.
He was suffering from acute Diabetes and due to some sort of injury to his feet, he got a wound which was not healing and it all came to amputation.
Brothers, I personally know this person, who is one of the poorest of the poor. Having a divorced daughter and her kids to look after. He used to run, for his day to day bread and butter and as far as food goes, it was all hand to mouth issue. We all know when it comes to medical expenses in India, it breaks our backbones and that is the problem.
I request you all humbly to please come forward and donate whatever little you can to help this brother in need. The expected expenses are around Rs.150,000/-, out of which we are transferring Rs.50,000/- by today evening Insha-allah.
May Allah give Ajar to our brother Yunus Sayed (Donating Sr.1000/-), who has personally come forward to advance (Rs.50K), so that the emergency treatment goes ahead and meanwhile we can collect funds here thereby losing no time.

Dear all,
I am writing this mail for your support to enable me to get treatment for my 2 year old daughter Mariam Razil Damad who is unfortunately detected with profound Sensor neural hearing loss.
Click Here(PDF file) for the corresponding medical reports as a result of which she needs to undergo surgery for Cochlear Implant as there is no benefit from optimally fitted hearing aid. If her surgery is not done at the earliest, she will not develop speech and language and suffer from a permanent disability throughout her life.
The cost of this surgery is approximately Indian Rupees 600,000/- (Six hundred Thousand Rupees) equivalent to SR 55000/- (Fifty five thousand Saudi Riyals). This is beyond my reach.

Alhamdullillah people did come forward to help him and his money requirement was filled. Further more I and my brother who had initially put out the request went ahead and stopped anybody else sending in more money.
Now the boy is undergoing treatment and is better than before.
In January when I visited him he was thin but better than before.
As for his current condition I will let you know soon.

The Houses of Allah (S)
Among the first actions the Messenger of Allah (SAW) undertook upon migrating to the blessed city of Madinah was to establish that corner of Jannah on Earth, Masjid Nabawi.
Since then the houses of Allah have greatly increased in number and have continued to serve not only as places of prayer, but as the spiritual and social centers of Muslim life.
In this day and age, when the reminders to Allah (S) are scarce, it is more important then ever to establish places where we can return to His worship and educate new generations on the Straight Path.
Allah (S) repeatedly reminds us of the rank of His masajid and of those who establish them:
“And the masajid are only for Allah” (72:18)
“In houses which Allah has allowed to be raised up, that His name may therein be remembered. In them He is glorified morning and evening.” (24:36)
Importance of Giving In the Way of Allah
Allah, Most High, says in the Holy Quran:
“O you who believe! Spend out of (the bounties) we have provided for you, before the day comes when no bargaining (will avail), nor friendship nor intercession. Those who reject faith they are the wrong doers.” (2:254)
“Those who (in charity) spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.” (2:274)

Background
South Orange County is home to a diverse and rapidly growing Muslim community of families and students.
Seven years ago community members started a Musallah in a rented warehouse. Today it has grown into a facility where community members not only pray five times but also organize Islamic educational and social activities throughout the year.
Mission
Dar-ul-Falah is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving South Orange County and beyond. Our fundamental aim and purpose is to:
1. Provide Muslims a place to pursue Islamic activities and adopt an Islamic way of life.

Since the expiration of our previous lease, the masjid has occupied a small, interim, rental facility. However, we have targeted an excellent building for purchase.
· 10 – 20,000 sq ft of multi-use space
· Central location to a large Muslim population and several major expressways
The expected cost of the total masjid project is $3 million dollars, covering the cost of purchase, renovations, and all legal/permit fees.
Inshallah, we hope to have the building purchased and ready for use by Ramadan of 2005.

Assalam Alaikum.
We all are aware of the flood situation in Konkan region including Mumbai. Some of the areas are worst affected. Apart from the loss of human life, property damages and loss of belongings are immense. Actual facts and loss estimate is emerging very slowly as communication networks were down. I could able to get some information from the people at the affected areas.
Human casualties are mainly due to land slides and drowning. So many cattle are dead. In some areas people are facing shortage of food and drinking water. Some of the poor have lost their houses. Fortunately, some local organizations are already working in konkan area. They have already started doing their act and organizing the relief effort. "Anjuman Dard-e-Mandan-e-Talim-o-Taraqqi" is one of them.
In such a situation, people need financial help from us. It is our duty to answer their call for help. Alhamdulillah, we have "Kokan Committee, Al-jubail" established in Al-Jubail and we have shown in past that we do care for our brothers. Again, it's time to act and help those who are in need. Allah will give us better rewards for it, Inshaallh.

Dear Tungekars and Kokneys All over the World,
I am thinking of make a documentary on our family history which will be for our future generations. I know it is a tough task and that is why i am asking help from each and everyone of you. Though i have the initial idea as to how we could go about in making this movie, I would encourage you guys to put forward your ideas and maybe we could then have online brainstorming sessions. I would also be needing assistance from the Tungekars living in Mumbai to record footings of Uran and Perwari and also take interviews of the surviing members there, so that accurate history can be chronicled. I know that we all are very busy in our respective assignments but the sheer excitement that this kind of work brings is unexplainable.
The documentary would cover the history of Kokanis, their origin and the background of the early settler families. It would then move to the Tungekar family describing their history going back to the times of Arabia. Footings of Arabia can be captured from documentaries or other motion pictures. It would then proceed to Uran and Mumbai and then to Pakistan and the rest of the world. In order to capture video footings of the various Tungekars we need volunteers specially in India, who can go to Uran and shoot outdoors and indoors. In the meanwhile of relations between india and pakistani improve i am ready to go there myself and capture some video footings and interviews.
Faisal has worked very hard in recording the family history on net which has really helped and also encouraged me to do something more ofcourse with your help. I have communicated with Faisal who has given me his full support. You guys are also requested to come forward and bring your ideas.
Making this family history documentary is a grand task. I am conceptualizing the initial idea after which I would begin writing the script. I would then send the script of each and everyone of you, and would seek sugesstions for improvement/ammendment. For reference I am starting with the family history that Faisal has collected and posted on the kokaniz site. To start with it is an ideal script, however once we decide on the duration of this documentary feature we can add accordingly to the script. Besides narration, there would be interviews from some of the senior and surviving members of the clan, who would be asked to share their memories and say something for the younger generation and the future generations to come. we can also put some light on the various welfare projects that our forefathers undertook like the Jama Masjid, the hospital and school in Uran etc.
In order to make quality stuff, we would divide the production into three stages.
1) Pre-production: Conceptualizing the idea and planning as to what really needs to be done, how to do it and who would do what.
2) Production: Will involve script writing, interviews, video footage. Collection of old pictures of various occassions like weddings etc. (We could also take pictures of the various antiques and jewellery held by the family, but as this may be sensitive to some people, lets discuss how we can handle it. Maybe skipping jewellery and focusing on antique furniture would be more suitable). One suggestion is that interviews not only from senior family members but also those young/middle aged tungekars who have reached prominence in their fields be taken, as this movie is for future generations.
3) Post Production: Would include non linear editing, recording of sound track etc and computer graphics. Anyone good in this field may please come forward.
This is the basic modus operandi. I would be emailing you more detail in a day or two. As this is entirely new to me and to you guys also, I am doing some back ground research which also includes research into the ideas and techniques of making good documentaries. We made a humble beginning over a year back and the response is overwhelming. You would agree that this is a gigantic task and needs help from one and all. I am therefore appealing to you to send me the following information:
